LEAD 499: Leadership Practice
- 1 credit, AUT, WIN, SPR, SUM
- To ensure you are prepared for the reflection required in LEAD 499, you must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in LEAD 100.
- The leadership experience used for LEAD 499 must be taken in the same quarter in which you are enrolled. If your experience is taking place in the summer, you must register for LEAD 499 in summer.
- There is no enrollment cap for LEAD 499 - the course will not fill.
Leadership Practice Requirements
- The experience must take place for at least one academic quarter for at least 30 hours total.
- The experience must provide an opportunity to practice leadership within a shared context where you are developing and practicing leadership competencies. You cannot use an independent study experience, unless it is part of a team setting (ex. a research lab).
- Research must be faculty-mentored or post-doctoral researchers.
- Learning goals must be identified and articulated for each internship, research, field- based experience or extra-curricular involvement.
- A mid-quarter check-in with supervisor is required, and a written final performance evaluation tied to the leadership competencies must be completed by a supervisor or proxy.

- Advising Appointment
- After you have completed the form, please schedule a meeting with Christina Kerr to go over your proposed experience: Book Lead 499 Advising Appointment
- Enrollment
- After you have met with a leadership minor adviser to go over your experience, they will register you for the course. We do not give Add Codes for LEAD 499.
Deadlines for Enrollment
- You must submit your request by the first day of the quarter in which you are hoping to enroll
